Long-Term Care Ombuds Services
The Long-Term Care Ombudsman program is a coordinated system of services designed to improve the quality of life for residents of nursing homes, assisted living and adult family homes.  Services provided by state and local ombuds include investigating and resolving complaints made on behalf of residents or residents; identifying problems which affect a substantial number of residents; recommending changes in federal, state and local legislation, regulations and policies to correct identified problems; and assisting in the development of resident councils, family councils, and citizen organizations concerned about the quality of life in long-term care facilities.
